- This class focuses on the opportunities you have in teaching your child to choose foods with positive nutrition in mind. You will learn the importance of fruits and vegetables in the diet. It is important to decrease the foods and drinks that offer no nutrition value and contribute to weight problems or illness in the future.
- Hang On To Your Health
- Preventative health care begins with the positive activities that promote heart health. Contributions of physical activity to developing healthy heart rate, blood pressure, maintaining weight and cardiovascular fitness are stressed. The nutritional contribution of fruits and vegetables in the diet are explained. Resources for the adequate nutrition support are reviewed.
- Nutrition Detectives
- For 5th-7th graders, learning the basics of label reading, food choices for optimum nutrition are presented in a compelling way. This approach is sure to inspire the middle age child to shape better choices in the future.
- Smoking NO MORE
- Smoking cessation is bound to be one of your goals for the New Year! There are long term outcomes of smoking that can be reversed or at least improved with the decision to stop smoking and ultimately be free of the habit.
- Diabetes Series
- This will be a series of classes focused on maintaining tight blood glucose control and will include diet management of diabetes, use of medications for glucose control, standards of care for keeping the diabetic as healthy as possible.
- Weight Loss
- Is it possible to lose weight? This is an opportunity to learn of the resources that are available to support and manage weight loss efforts. A nutritionist, health educator, physical therapist, hypnotist, accupuncturist, and others will be utilized as resources to find just the option that will work for you to get to your optimal weight goal.
